In the spring of 2023, the first memorial tree was placed on the wall in Afscheidshuis a/d IJssel at Anton and Monique Maurik. The corten steel fits beautifully into the interior of the farewell house.
At the farewell, a golden memorial leaf is attached to the tree. On the remembrance evening, the families come together for a ceremony and are given the memorial leaf to take home.
Anton and Monique have made a success of it: more than 150 memorial leaves have now been attached to the tree and taken away by the families after the remembrance ceremony.
Perspex golden memorial leaves have been developed especially for this tree on the wall.
